Would provide funding for Campbell's fiscal stability and general government services, such as: police/fire protection; 911 emergency medical response; road and storm drain repairs; disaster preparation; homeless services; recreation programs; keeping public spaces and parks safe/clean, by establishing a locally controlled 1/2¢ transaction and use (sales) tax providing approximately $7,000,000 annually until ended by voters; requiring independent audits and public disclosure of spending, be adopted. Measure K requires at least 55% of voters approving to pass.

Our City needs additional, locally controlled funding that cannot be taken by the State or County. Yes on K supports services that keep Campbell a safe, vibrant place to live, raise a family, or operate a local business. Yes on K maintains and improves police and fire protection, neighborhood patrols, and officers on the street. Measure K invests in tracking and investigating crime, and maintaining 911 response times -­ keeping us all safe. In today's digital age, it's more important than ever to give Campbell youth opportunities for sports and recreation. Yes on K invests in playgrounds, parks, and programs that keep kids active and learning, especially after school and in the summertime.

A YES vote on this measure means that you support establishing a  local ½ cent sales tax which would generate approximately $7,000,000 per year for the City.

In Depth

If authorized by voters, Measure K would establish a voter-approved, local ½ cent sales tax which would generate approximately $7,000,000 per year for the City. All Measure K funds would be spent on maintaining community City services such as police and fire protection,local streets, sidewalks, libraries, parks, and sports/recreation centers. Maintaining these services helps Campbell to remain a safe, beautiful, and vibrant place to live, work and raise a family. 

Measure K funding is subject to the City’s responsible fiscal accountability practices, including public transparency on how taxpayer funds are spent. This includes online budget and expenditure reports and annual independent audits available for public review. By law, the State cannot take Measure K funding. 

In addition to Measure K, voters living in City Council Districts 1 and 2 can choose/elect their local city council representative in the upcoming Municipal election. In addition to federal and state candidates, there are state propositions and other local measures on your November ballot.
